5th Philippine Geomatics Symposium
April 20-22, 2016
University of the Philippines Diliman

About PhilGEOS

The University of the Philippines Department of Geodetic Engineering (UP DGE) and the UP Training Centre for Applied Geodesy and Photogrammetry (UP TCAGP) have been organising the Philippine Geomatics Symposium or PhilGEOS since 2012. It was envisioned to be a yearly national symposium for Geomatics educators, researchers, practitioners and all users of geospatial data and technology.

PhilGEOS was first staged in November 2012 (PhilGEOS 2012) with the theme “Philippine Geomatics: Practice, Application and Accomplishments”. Last year, PhilGEOS had two special symposiums – PhilGEOS GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) and PhilGEOS UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems Mapping). The two focused symposiums aimed at disseminating GNSS and UAS related studies and applications.

THEME

Strengthening Geomatics Applications through Advanced Space Science and Technology

On its 5th year, PhilGEOS 2016 will once again gather the members of the Philippine Geomatics community to meet, discuss and exchange knowledge and insights on the role of space science and technology in geomatics and its applications. To be held on April 20-22, 2016, and revolving around the theme “Strengthening Geomatics Applications through Advanced Space Science and Technology”, PhilGEOS 2016 is aimed at establishing a powerful academe-government-industry connection, facilitate idea exchange and encourage research and development on how advances in space science and technology will benefit the geomatics community.
